May 29 - PAFCOM, Inc. - CDC and ACES offer Saturday programs
                on Conversational Filipino, Philippine Dances, and Arts
                and Crafts

The Philippine -American Friendship Committee, Inc. - Community Development Center (PAFCOM-CDC) and Alliance for Cultural Educational Services (ACES)  held “Iskwelahang Munti sa New Jersey” at the Bill O’Dea Neighborhood Association Center, 120 Mallory St., Jersey City, NJ 07304 on October 14, 21, 28, November 4 & 11, 2006 from 10:15 – 4:00. Students ages 7 – 14 attended this Saturday program. They learned Conversational Filipino, Philippine dances, songs, sewing, crocheting, and arts and crafts. “Iskwelahang Munti sa New Jersey was supported in part by the Jersey City Community Development Block Grant.

Facilitators at the Iskwelahang Munti included experienced teachers in New Jersey and New York and distinguished community leaders. They were Romy Ayapana, Adel Bernardo, Faye Deytiquez, Amor Mankos, Paulette Ong, and Belen Castillo. Helen Castillo, Acting Executive Director of PAFCOM-CDC and Dr. Victoria Rey, Iskwelahang Munti project director coordinated this project for the youth. Deputy Consul General  Melita Sta Maria-Thomeczek gave an inspirational message and distributed the certificates to participants.
