The
Alliance for Educational Services, Inc. (ACES) in collaboration
with the Philippine American Friendship Committee, Inc.
(PAFCOM) celebration will conduct On the Spot Painting and
Essay Writing contests at Jersey City.
The festivities, headed by 2004 Philippine American Friendship
Day Committee Chairpersons, Ms. Lourdes P. Corrales and
Grand Marshal Dr. Baby Bleza-Guinto, will be held on June
27 at the Exchange Place Plaza in Jersey City.
Elementary and high school students, Filipinos or non-Filipinos,
ages 7 through 17 years may join the contests. PAFCOM Education
committee Co-chairpersons, Ms. Sevilla Belen Castillo, Victoria
Rey said that the festivities theme this year is Immigration:
Celebrating our Diversity
The contests’ aim is to instill among the participants,
love of freedom, sense of community, friendship and service,
and the values of unity in a very diversified community.
Each year, the contests attract students from the counties
of New Jersey and even from the surrounding neighborhoods
including New York.
The contests will start at 11:00 in the morning and end
at 4:00 in the afternoon. Trophies will be awarded at 5:00
P.M. All participants will receive certificates of participation.
